Dog Kennel Kit FAQ
What's actually included in the kit — and what do I still need to buy?
Included in the box:
- Enclosed kennel structure with siding, roofing, and a lockable wood rear door
- Integrated outdoor run with chain-link gate and treated run decking
- Windows and a stainless steel dog door between kennel and run
- Hardware/fasteners and assembly instructions
- Paint (siding ships primed, not painted)
- Touch-up shingles if needed
- A concrete pad, if you want one (available on request from Alpine Structures, price not published)
How is a panelized kit different, and how long does assembly take?
Alpine Structures ships this as a panelized kit — the walls arrive as pre-built sections with the siding already attached, so there's no cutting or measuring lumber. Real-world builder reports put a comparable panelized Amish-built structure at around 12 hours spread over 2 days for two people; assembling solo is possible but not recommended.
Do I need a permit?
Sometimes — it depends on your local jurisdiction, not on Alpine Structures. Small accessory structures like this kennel are commonly exempt from permitting, but check with your local building department and, if you're in an HOA, with your HOA separately before ordering.
What's the warranty, and how do I make a claim?
Backed by Alpine Structures' 10-year limited structural warranty (non-transferable, original purchaser only) plus the manufacturer component warranties: LP SmartSide siding 50-year limited, Weyerhaeuser OSB sheathing limited. To keep coverage valid, paint the siding with 100% acrylic latex exterior paint within 60 days of assembly, maintain ground clearance, and assemble within a year of delivery. To file a claim, contact Alpine Structures directly with your order details and photos of the issue.
