The Lancing brings the Alton cedar line's largest footprint yet — a Victorian-style, 45-degree roof pitch greenhouse built from Grade-A knot-free Western Red Cedar with 3mm safety glass glazing. Mortise-and-tenon joinery holds the frame together the traditional way, while an aluminum base and capping keep the wood off the ground and out of standing water.

Four to six automatic roof vents (depending on size) plus louvre windows keep air moving on hot days without you having to remember to open anything, and a pre-assembled hinged door with a lock comes ready to hang. Integrated aluminum guttering and a downspout channel runoff away from the structure.

Offered in three sizes — 10x16, 10x18, and 10x20 — for growers who've outgrown the rest of the Alton cedar lineup and want the largest classic-style greenhouse we carry.

Lancing Cedar Greenhouse by Alton FAQ — Everything You Need to Know

Why choose a cedar-framed greenhouse over aluminum or polycarbonate?

Cedar gives you the classic Victorian glasshouse look with real wood glazing bars, but the Lancing avoids the usual downside of wood — ground rot — by sitting the whole frame on a standard aluminum base, so it never touches soil directly.

What size should I get?

All three sizes share the same 10'9\" width and 11'1\" peak height — the only variable is length (16'8\", 18'0\", or 20'10\"). If you're growing more than a hobbyist's worth of tomatoes and herbs, or want room for a potting bench along one wall, size up to the 10x18 or 10x20.

Do I need a foundation?

The Lancing includes its own aluminum base, so it doesn't require a poured concrete foundation — a level, well-drained site (paver base, compacted gravel, or a existing patio slab) is enough for most installs.

How does ventilation work?

Every size ships with automatic roof vent openers that respond to temperature without any wiring, plus manual louvre windows for cross-breeze. If you'd rather not open louvres by hand, automatic louvre openers are available as an upgrade.

Is the glass safe if something hits it?

Yes — the Lancing uses 3mm toughened safety glass throughout, clamped into aluminum glazing bars so individual panes can be replaced without disturbing the rest of the structure.

What's the warranty?

A 10-year manufacturer's guarantee on the cedar framework. Keep your receipt, and call or text us at 732-806-7959 if you ever need to file a claim.
