What size is this bed and how much soil do I need?

Assembled dimensions are 72" W x 39" D x 33.5" H, with about 19.5 sq ft of growing area. Plan on roughly 1 cubic yard of soil to fill it.

What is it made of?

Solid Western Red Cedar — naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insects, with no chemical treatments.

How does the trellis/lid work?

Lower it while plants are young to keep out pests. As they grow, lift it up into a 71" tall trellis for climbing vegetables and flowers.

How long does assembly take, and does it come with a floor?

Panels arrive pre-assembled with all hardware included (screws and nails) and marine-grade hinges, so setup is quick. Note: a floor is not included with this kit.

This raised bed does not have a floor.

1 cubic yard top 3/4 use a quality soil for the bottom 1/4 you can use any filler
Is a floor needed or can you place directly on ground?

It does not need a floor.

Is this coated in any way to withstand winters outside?

This untreated western red cedar and can naturally withstand very extreme weather. We do recommend that you stain it for even better durability.
