ADA-Compliant Forward-Facing Wheelchair Garden Bed FAQ — Everything You Need to Know
Do you accept purchase orders from schools, districts and facilities?
Yes. We work with schools, districts, agencies and care facilities on quotes, invoices and purchase orders. Use the quote request form on this page, or call or text us at 732-806-7959.
Is shipping included?
Yes. Shipping is included in the price, with no additional charges.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery is typically 1-2 weeks, but it can vary. If you need it by a specific date, such as the start of a semester or a program launch, let us know and we'll do our best to plan around it.
Should I choose the child or adult height?
We generally recommend the higher clearance so everyone can fit comfortably underneath, including older students and adults. Custom heights are available for children, and we can confirm the exact height with you after you order.
Do the wheels cost extra?
No. The rolling indoor/outdoor version is the same price as the permanent version. Rolling beds can move indoors for the winter and back outside in warmer weather.
What does "forward-facing" mean?
The bed has open clearance underneath, so a wheelchair, walker or other mobility device can roll straight up to it and the gardener can reach the entire bed facing forward, instead of reaching sideways.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. The patented grow/drainage tray captures excess water in a container attached to a leg, so it works well in classrooms, atriums, patios and decks.
How hard is assembly?
Easy. Each bed arrives weighing 90-110 lbs, pre-drilled and more than half pre-assembled, with all stainless steel hardware. No special site prep is needed.
How strong is it?
It was developed working with the State of California Education Department and the Supervising State Architect, and is certified by a structural engineer to carry the weight of wet soil and heavy plants, plus people leaning against it for standing support.
Who makes this garden bed?
It's made by Accessible Gardens, a manufacturer specializing in accessible garden beds for schools, care facilities and community gardens. Master woodworkers build each bed from rot-resistant cedar.
